چکیده

Abstract In this review, we explore the origin of rudimentary embryo, its relationship to other kinds plant embryos and role in diversification angiosperms. Rudimentary have a length:width ratio ≤2.0, they organs, including cotyledon(s) primary root. A literature survey failed reveal pre-angiosperms, suggesting that kind embryo is an angiosperm invention. Although proembryos some gymnosperms angiosperms not formed meristems or organs. Thus, are proembryos. During development monocots dicots (all non-monocots), growth pattern epicotyledonary cells differs, resulting differences placement shoot meristem one versus two cotyledons, respectively, but size similar. grow inside seed prior germination, which true for linear-underdeveloped embryos, those gymnosperms. served as starting point great ultimately seeds, angiosperms, still present many families extant The part syndrome changes, increased speed pollen germination tube growth, simplification female gametophyte, endosperm elimination multiple production from each zygote, distinguish We conclude was new developments contributed their success on earth.

Molecular analyses of MADS-box genes trace back to Gymnosperms the invention of fleshy fruits.

Botanical fruits derive from ovaries and their most important function is to favor seed dispersal. Fleshy fruits do so by attracting frugivorous animals that disperse seeds together with their own excrements (endozoochory). Gymnosperms make seeds but have no ovaries to be transformed into fruits. Many species surround their seeds with fleshy structures and use endozoochory to disperse them. Suc...

Rise to dominance of angiosperm pioneers in European Cretaceous environments.

The majority of environments are dominated by flowering plants today, but it is uncertain how this dominance originated. This increase in angiosperm diversity happened during the Cretaceous period (ca. 145-65 Ma) and led to replacement and often extinction of gymnosperms and ferns. We propose a scenario for the rise to dominance of the angiosperms from the Barremian (ca. 130 Ma) to the Campania...

Polar auxin transport: an early invention

In higher plants, cell-to-cell polar auxin transport (PAT) of the phytohormone auxin, indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), generates maxima and minima that direct growth and development. Although IAA is present in all plant phyla, PAT has only been detected in land plants, the earliest being the Bryophytes. Charophyta, a group of freshwater green algae, are among the first multicellular algae with a lan...

An Expert System to identify Gymnosperms

The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to the problem of botanical identification is not particularly widespread even less so on Internet. There are several interactive identification systems but they usually deal with raw knowledge so it appears that “research and development of web-based expert systems are still in their early stage” (Li et al., 2002). In this paper we pre...

The first Chinese porcine sapovirus strain that contributed to an outbreak of gastroenteritis in piglets.

Sapovirus (SaV) belongs to the family Caliciviridae and is a causative agent of gastroenteritis in children and adults (6, 2). On the basis of complete capsid gene sequences, SaV can be divided into five genogroups, among which GI, GII, GIV, and GV infect humans, whereas SaV GIII infects porcine species (1). Porcine SaV was initially isolated from a nursing pig with diarrhea, and the isolate in...
